Stair Treads are constructed using an open steel grating from the flooring range with a nosing bar / sight bar welded to the front edge and drilled end plates to allow for bolting to stair stringers. 

According to whether the nosing to be used and methods of mounting to stringers, grating treads are classified into 10 types, expressed as T1, T2, T3, T4, T5, T6, T7, T8, T9, T10.

4. Step Steel Grating without Nosing Types

Type T1 and T2 stair treads are without any nosing, the advantage of T1 and T2 stair treads without nosing is easy for production as well as low cost, The difference between T1 stair tread without nosing and T2 stair tread without nosing is the mounted methods, T1 type is mounted by welding directly and T2 type is mounted by bolts, so T1 type stair tread is closed by banding bar which is usually same as  bearing bars while T2 type stair tread is closed by end plates with mounted holes.
